The Rankshoot plugin for WordPress

What it does

• Reads your posts and pages — their text, links and SEO settings from Yoast or Rank Math — so Rankshoot can map your site and plan around it.
• Creates a new post from a version you approved, exactly as approved, as the WordPress user you choose. Drafts by default.
• Only if you tick “Allow Rankshoot to update existing posts”: replaces the text of an existing block-editor post with an update you approved. Its images, videos and other blocks stay exactly as they are, and nothing is written if the post changed since the update was prepared. Every update can be undone while nobody has edited the post since.
• Checks every request: each one is signed, time-limited and used once. Answers from your site are signed too.

What it never does

• Changes an existing post unless you have allowed updates — and never pages, or posts built with a page builder. Those updates are handed to you to place yourself.
• Deletes posts or pages.
• Adds scripts, tracking or anything else to your public pages.
• Changes your SEO plugin's settings, your theme or other plugins.
• Acts as an administrator. The Rankshoot user must be an Editor or lower.

Install and connect

1. In WordPress go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP and activate it.
2. Create a dedicated user with the Editor role for Rankshoot.
3. Open Settings → Rankshoot, paste the site key from your Rankshoot account and press Activate.
4. After about 20 seconds press Check status. When it says Connected, choose the Rankshoot user and save.

You stay in control

• Updates to existing posts are off until you allow them, and you can switch them off again at any time.
• Read-only mode: Rankshoot may read, but never create or change posts.
• Kill switch: stops all Rankshoot access to your site at once.
• Recent activity: every connection, refusal, created post, update and undo is listed in the plugin's settings.
• Deactivate and delete the plugin at any time; everything it stored is removed.

External service

This plugin connects your site to Rankshoot, an external service operated by the business named in our Terms. It sends data only after you activate it with a site key, and only to Rankshoot. See the Privacy Policy for what is processed and where.
